Meeting Minutes: February 14, 2003
The February 14, 2003 meeting of the Upper Southampton Township Historical Advisory Board was called to order at 8:40a.m. at the Township Building. Board members present were Mr. Day, Mr. Donahue, Mr. Lynch, and Mr. Vogel; also present was Mrs. Biuckians.
Approval of the minutes of the Board's January 10 meeting was moved by Mr. Vogel and seconded by Mr. Lynch.
Mr. Vogel has begun removing and refinishing interior trim and molding at the Dry Goods Store. Block Grant money for renovations will become available in the Spring. Mr. Golden will be contacted for information on the specifics of the grant request. It was suggested that a project manager be appointed to coordinate the work and communicate with the appropriate interested bodies. Mr. Lynch suggested that when the Dry Goods Store is eventually opened to the public it should feature displays on general stores, becuase of its proximity to the location of the original general stores in Davisville. He will write down his recollections of those establishments.
Mr. Lynch moved, seconded by Mr. Vogel, that the Historical Advisory Board send a written recommendation to the Board of Supervisors that the township purchase the buildings and property located at 637 Davisville Rd. should the County decide to put them up for sale. The motion passed unanimously. Mr. Day will prepare a letter to this effect for approval at the next meeting.
Mr. Day will contact Mr. Golden for a status report on the planned demolition of buildings adjacent to the Old School Baptist cemetary.
Mr. Donahue has exchanged voice-mail messages with Mr. Kadish of SEPTA, but has not yet been able to actually meet with him. He will try again next week.
Mrs. Biuckians suggested that Mr. Sabol could accompany members of the Board and use the township's digital camera to take pictures of "High Hollow" for use in an application for National Registry listing.
At 9:35 a.m. Mr. Lynch moved that the meeting be adjourned, seconded by Mr. Donahue.
