Meeting Minutes: May 21, 2005
The May 21, 2005 meeting of the Upper Southampton Township Historical Advisory Board was called to order at 9:08 a.m. at the Township Building. Board members present were Mr. Day, Mr. Donahue, Mr. Faust, and Mr. Vogel; also attending was Mrs. Brager.
Approval of the minutes of the Board's March 12 meeting was moved by Mr. Faust and seconded by Mr. Vogel.
Mr. Vogel reported that electric service at the Dry Goods Store has been connected. He expects to have a proposal for HVAC work within the week. Mr. Day and Mr. Faust will schedule several work days over the summer to prepare and paint the exterior. Mr. Day will check to see if the Public Works Department has a portable water tank that could be used for power washing.
According to Mr. Golden, SEPTA is requesting that the Township provide railroad liability insurance as a condition for a long-term lease of the Southampton Train Station. The Board felt that this was an unusual request for a property on an inactive line and will attempt to gather information to see if this type of insurance was required in leases for similar properties.
Mr. Day reoported on the status of title searches of several historical properties.
Mr. Vogel and Mr. Donahue will continue to scan photos and slides in teh Baord's collection and on loan.
The Board expressed its desire to participate in planning the development of the Mikowski tract and the need to involve an historic preservation architect. It was noted that the old stone school house on Street Rd. appears to have been sold. The Board would be happy to work with the new owners on restoration or development in the building.
At 9:40 a.m. Mr. Donahue moved that the meeting be adjourned, seconded by Mr. Faust.
Respectfully submitted by,
James Day
