Meeting Minutes: June 11, 2004
The June 11, 2004 meeting of the Upper Southampton Township Historical Advisory Board was called to order at 8:40 a.m. at the Township Building. Board members present were Mr. Day, Mr. Donahue, Mr. Faust, Mr. Gardocki, and Mr. Vogel.
After corrections, approval of the minutes of the Board's May 14 meeting was moved by Mr. Vogel and seconded by Mr. Gardocki.
Mr. Vogel has finished preparing specifications for heating and air conditioning systems for the Dry Goods Store; he will submit them and then proceed with advertising and bidding.
Mr. Day reported on the status of contacts between the township and SEPTA regarding the Southampton train station.
Mr. Gardocki has the names and phone numbers of about 10 students who might be interested in working on the Dry Goods Store as a community service project. Three Saturday mornings (9-12) in July and August were selected as work days. Mr. Day will send a letter to Ms. Patricia Stubel, the coordinator of the community service program at William Tennent High School, to thank her for her assistance.
Mr. Faust has learned that one of his neighbors has some old photographs of a farm in Southampton; he will try to arrange to get copies. Mr. Gardocki will help over the summer with scanning photos currently in our collection.
Mr. Day presented a request from John Cryan, of John Cryan Jewelers, that the Board evaluate his proposal to install a free-standing clock in front of his place of business. After discussion, Mr. Donahue moved (seconded by Mr. Faust) that we support the installation of the clock as an enhancement to the core business district and that we urge the appropriate township bodies to do whatever possible to facilitate this project.
At 9:30 a.m. Mr. Faust moved that the meeting be adjourned, seconded by Mr. Donahue.
Respectfully submitted by,
James Day
