Meeting Minutes: June 13, 2003
The June 13, 2003 meeting of the Upper Southampton Township Historical Advisory Board was called to order at 8:45 a.m. at the Township Building. Board members present were Mr. Day, Mr. Donahue, Mr. Lynch, and Mr. Vogel.
Approval of the minutes of the Board's May 9 meeting was moved by Mr. Lynch and seconded by Mr. Vogel.
Mr. Vogel reported that construction of the bio-retention field adjacent to the Dry Goods Store appears to be nearly finished. Nothing more has has been done to the driveway. Because of recent weather conditions, he has been unable to do much work on the building, however he will proceed with getting estimates for plumbing, heating, and ventilation, and interior plastering.
Mr. Donahue brought a copy of 1970 census records for Southampton. It is hoped that the information in the records will help clarify who lived in the various properties owned by John Davis at that time.
A Mr. Scott Vogel has expressed an interest in renovating the train station for use as an antique store. The Board would have no objection to such a proposal as long as the historic integrity of the building was preserved. There was concern, however, about the amount of time required for approval of such a proposal, since the building is in urgent need of repair.
Mr. Day reported on his further contacts with Arcadia Publishing.
At 9:15 a.m. Mr. Vogel moved that the meeting be adjourned, seconded by Mr. Donahue.
