    Donation for New Elevator at Library

    Mr. James Gormley, Left and Mr. Keith E. Froggatt, Sr.Mr. James Gormley (left) of the Delaware Valley Authority for Industrial Development presented a check in the amount of $20,000 to Mr. Keith Froggatt, Sr., Chairman of the Upper Southampton Township Board of Supervisors at a recent Board of Supervisors meeting. The donation will be used towards the cost of construction of a new elevator and renovations to restrooms and doorways at the Southampton Free Library. This project will provide greater accessability for public meetings and library programs. The total cost of the project is $450.000, of which $350,000 has been received in grants and donations.

    Public Notice - Proposed Budget 2008

    Click here to access, as an Adobe Acrobat (PDF) file, Public Notice - Notice is hereby given that the Upper Southampton Township Board of Supervisors introduced the proposed 2008 Township Budget on November 20, 2007. The proposed budget is on file for public inspection at the Township Municipal Building, 939 Street Road, Southampton, PA, and the Township website, www.southamptonpa.com until December 18, 2007, between the hours of 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday-Friday. The proposed budget is also available for public inspection at the Southampton Free Library, 947 Street Road, Southampton, PA, Monday-Thursday 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM and Friday to Saturday 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Final adoption of the 2008 Budget is scheduled for Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at 7:30 PM at a regular meeting of the Board of Supervisors to be held at the Upper Southampton Township first floor meeting room, 939 Street Road, Southampton, PA.

    Cambridge Circle Culvert Replacement

    Cambridge CulvertTwelve bids were opened on January 4, 2007, to complete the Cambridge Circle Culvert Replacement project. The low bidder on the project, and the company that received the bid award, was A. H. Cornell & Son. Pictured here is one of the nine main culvert sections being put into place with the assistance of a crane. For more pictures showing this interesting project visit our Public Works page.

    Finance & Long Range Planning Committee - Members Wanted!

    The Finance & Long Range Planning Committee was reorganized in December 2005, and is comprised of individuals who "study, analyze, and provide recommendations of financial and long range planning importance to the Township". Currently there are three vacancies on the Committee that need filled. Would you be willing to serve on the Committee? To find out more information about the Committee click here. You should also feel free to attend a Committee meeting - held on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month.

    Emergency and Municipal Services Tax Refund

    On 6 December 2005 the Upper Southampton Township Board of Supervisors enacted the Emergency and Municipal Services Tax (EMST) which went into effect on 1 January 2006. As stated in the ordinance the EMST is a $52 tax "levied upon the privilege of engaging in an occupation within the Township." However, there is also an exemption - "hereby exempted from this tax (is) any person whose total compensation from all sources is less than Twelve Thousand Dollars ($12,000) per annum."

    Stormwater Management

    In 1990, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) promulgated federal National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) regulations for stormwater discharges under the Clean Water Act. To find out more about the program, as well as review educational materials, please click here.

    Yard Waste Collection

    Yard waste is collected on the day following the recycling day during the yard waste collection program, which runs from April 1 to December 15. Yard waste is collected with regular trash during the rest of the year. There is no limit on the amount of yard waste collected between April 1 through December 15. There is a 5-container limit the rest of the year. YARD WASTE MUST BE PLACED IN TRASH CANS OR PAPER BIODEGRADABLE LEAF BAGS.
