Police Department

Chief SchultzIn light of the September 11th tragedy I would like to inform you that the Upper Southampton Township Police Department has been asked by our federal government to play an active role in the fight against terrorism. Specifically, Attorney General John Ashcroft has implemented a plan for the rapid communication of the federal government with local police units. Also, a nationwide and countywide "anti-terrorism task force" has been established.

United We StandThe Bucks County Task Force will be headed by our district attorney, Ms. Diane Gibbons, and consist of representatives from federal law enforcement agencies - including the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS), Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), Customs Service, Marshals Service, Secret Service, and Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) - plus state and local police forces. The task forces will be part of a national network that will coordinate the dissemination of information about suspected terrorists, gather intelligence, and develop effective investigative and prosecutorial strategies.

In sum, the implementation of task forces will provide the operational foundation for a concerted national assault on terrorism. We ask your assistance by immediately reporting any suspicious person or act to the Upper Southampton Township Police Department. Your report will be investigated.

To each citizen that we have sworn to "protect and serve" rest assured that we have never been more determined to fulfill that obligation.

David C. Schultz, Chief of Police
